“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
2 Corinthian 3: 17
The Trinity is a family that we have been invited into. We belong to this holy family because of Jesus who makes us holy through his work on the cross. In the days of Moses human beings could only participate in the family of God through rituals and rules. The Holy Spirit rested on and worked with specific people like prophets and priests. Today the Holy Spirit is ready and willing to live with all who call Jesus their Lord and friend.
In 2 Corinthians we read that the Lord is Spirit and where this Spirit is there is freedom. Not only are religious rituals no longer necessary for knowing God but the Holy Spirit is now in our lives brining us into freedom. What does this mean?
It means the Holy Spirit is a change agent! Holy Spirit helps us look more like our Father and our brother Jesus. The freedom Holy Spirit invites us into is freedom from shame, lies, condemnation and sin. The Spirit loves us so much that he will convict us of sin so we can get rid of it (since Jesus already paid for it). The Holy Spirit reveals truth; thus, setting us free from lies we believe about ourselves, the world and God. The Holy Spirit is the most joyous, kind and patient Being that exists. Not only does Holy Spirit point things out in us for our good – but He also empowers us to walk out the steps to freedom.
To journey with Holy Spirit is to walk deeper into love, truth and your real identity as a child of God – fully known loved and free of fear and shame! Let’s invite Holy Spirit to take us deeper into freedom today. He delights to do it!
